Box Score 1 |
Box Score 2 Monmouth got the hits, but not at the right time and dropped a pair of games Tuesday in Clermont, Fla.
Â
Wheaton scratched out a pair of runs in the first three innings and made them stand up to hand the Scots a 4-1 loss.
Â
Trailing 2-0 in the top of the sixth, the Scots put back-to-back hits together as
Emily Watkins picked up her second hit of the game to led off the inning and
Johnna Schultz tacked on another single.
Liz Hippen then delivered a run-scoring hit to right with two outs to plate the lone tally.
Â
The Scots jumped out to a 2-0 first inning lead against SUNY Oneonta, but couldn't hang on in a 5-3 loss.
Kirstyn Ozga and Watkins each reached in the first inning to give Monmouth the early edge, but Oneonta used a four-run fourth to take a 5-2 lead. Ozga got one of the runs back with a solo homer in the fifth, but the Scots could only manage three base runners over the next two innings.
Â
Monmouth will next face Fontbonne for the second time this week Wednesday afternoon. The Griffins won the first meeting on Monday 4-2.
