The Monmouth College cross country teams finished ahead of most of their Midwest Conference competition at Saturday's Lamb-Kohawk Invitational held in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. The Fighting Scots' women placed second in the field of nine teams while the men were fifth of 10 squads.
Competing against six other league schools, Monmouth's women were a solid second behind Cornell after a pair of top 10 finishes.
Caitlyn Allen clocked a 23:21.0 over the 6K course to place third trailing a pair of Cornell runners.
Alex Dupont's 24:13.9 was good for an eight-place finish.
Brittany Daniel (24:59.0),
Joanna Podosek (25:01.9) and
Thea Bloom (25:04.8) comprised the Scots' 3-5 pack with a five second split, placing 18
th, 20
th and 23
rd.
Jessica Salinas and
Kelci Foss completed the seven-person scoring. Salinas clocked a 26:23.7 and Foss ran a 26:46.9 to edge teammate
Kaley Lobb's 26:52.8 for the Scots' last scoring position.
Monmouth's men were in the middle of the pack in the conference field. Their point total of 144 placed them ahead of three of the other six MWC schools.
Cooper Pauley led the men, placing 13
th on the 8K course at 27:36.6.
Tate Heiple (28:00.5),
Jay Gray (28:19.4) and
Bryent Van De Wostine (28:39.6) were next after running a 40 second pack split time.
Tyler Bland (29:23.4),
Dustin Watts (29:48.1) and
Josh Green (30:09.3) completed the seven-man scoring.
Eric Rudd (30:34.9) and
Brandon Allsop (30:36.2) finished less than 30 seconds outside the scoring range for the Scots.
Monmouth will have a quick turnaround this week, competing at the Bradley Pink Classic Friday in Peoria.
