Box Score 2 Two days after ripping a shcool-record four homeruns, Charlotte Park blaseted another to pull within a round tripper of the Scots' single season record, but that couldn't keep the Scots from dropping 4-1 and 5-4 decisions at Washington University.
Monmouth's bats were kept quiet in the opener. The Scots managed just one hit until Maggie Hayes and Kristen Dillon collected a pair of sinles in the fifth. Hayes picked up a one-out single and eventually scored the Scots' only run on a wild pitch to cut the deficit to 4-1. The Scots threatend in the sixth when Park opened the inning with a hit and moved to third on Kaitlyn Winkler's single. The threat eneded with the Bears sat the next three down in order.
Caitlin Lingle blasted her 19th career round tripper in Game 2, a two-run shot that came just infront of Park's solo bleacher-reacher. The back-to-back jacks spotted the Scots to a quick 3-0 lead before Wash U went yard in their half of the inning. The Bears scratched out solo runs in the third and fourth innings to knot the game at 3-3. Monmouth regained the lead in the fifth when Dillon doubled with two outs and came home on Emily Watkins' base hit. Wash U tied the game with a solo homre in the sixth and palted the winning run in the bottom of the seventh.
The Scot travel to Jacksonville for a key Midwest Conference matchup Monday.
