Monmouth got off to a good start for last weekend's road trip, clippiing Penn State-Behrend 11-10 for the fifth consecutive time before falling to Mercyhurst and CWPA Division II champion Gannon.
Kyle Bradberry's goal in the third period against PSB pulled the Scots into a 7-7 tie heading into the final quarter.
Ryan Sterling's back-to-back goals in the final seven minutes pulled the Scots ahead 10-8 and a
Julius Bradsfield score with two seconds left gave Monmouth an 11-9 cushion. PSB scored the final goal as time expired. It was the fifth time in five outings the Scots had defeated the Lions.
The Scots and Mercyhurst then played to a 7-7 halftime tie before the Lakers gained some separation in the third quarter with a 5-3 advantage. Jon Fitzgerald's three second half goals kept the Scots close, but they couldn't get over the hump despite a five goal game from Matt Engebretson in the 15-12 loss.
Facing Division II champion Gannon on Sunday, the Scots couldn't shake off a 5-1 first period deficit. Monmouth rallied in the second half with a seven-goal outburst, but fell 19-10 to the Golden Knights.
