Shot barrage keeps women's soccer in tie for league lead

Box Score Monmouth stayed tied atop the Midwest Conference standings after a 4-0 win over Ripon.

The Scots outshot the Red Hawks 25-8 and put 16 shots on goal. Lauren Kellen posted her 11th and 12th goals of the year after Allie DeArvil broke the ice with her third goal this season. DeArvil's boot in the 25th minute gave the Scots all the goals they'd need by holding Ripon to just three shots on goal.

Kellen put her first score in after Mikaela Roger's blast was temporarily saved by Ripon keeper Sidney Blodgett. Kellen collected the loose ball to give Monmouth a 2-0 lead just four minutes after DeArvil's score.

Kelsi Smith then hit Kellen in front of the goal for a re-direct as Kellen scored just 90 seconds after halftime. Unique Manns added a goal for good measure in the 86th minute as Monmouth improved to 2-0 in league play.
