Softball bats go silent in battle with the Bears

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 Monmouth’s bats were cold in a 3-1, 10-0 loss to Washington Unviersity Saturday afternoon.

Emily Watkins drove in Sommer Foster in the first inning of the opener, but that would be the last tally the Scots would get in the twinbill. Wash U scored three times in the top of the second to end all the scoring in the game.

A seven-run fourth inning broke open a 1-0 game in the nightcap, sending the Bears on the road with the sweep. Taylor Smith allowed just one run over three innings, but Wash U hit the Monmouth bullpen for nine runs to end the game in five innings.
