Box Score Monmouth got a stellar pitching performance from Alyssa Edler en route to a 3-0 blanking of Lawrence in the Scots’ final game of the Midwest Conference Classic at East Peoria’s EastSide Centre.

Caitlin Lingle gave Edler all the runs she would need with a leadoff homer in the second. Edler helped her own cause in the sixth, opening the bottom of the inning with a base hit and then scoring on a wild pitch. Emily Watkins’ RBI single three batters later gave the Scots plenty of cushion as Edler retired three of the four batters she faced in the seventh to record her team-high eighth win.

The win moved the Scots into a tie for first place in the MWC’s South Division with Lake Forest. The two teams will meet in suburban Chicago this Saturday.
