Women's soccer takes two 'Must-Win' games, edges Carroll 1-0 Sunday

Box Score Monmouth wrapped up a must-win weekend with a 1-0 win over Carroll Sunday afternoon.
A day after handing Lake Forest their first Midwest Conference loss, the Fighting Scots edged the Pioneers 1-0 on Lauren Kellen’s 15th goal of the season. After fighting through a scoreless first half, Monmouth got the match’s only score when Alex Ivie found Kellen open in front of the net for the game-winner. Kellen had launched four of her five shots on goal to lead the Scots to only their second win against Carroll in the history of the series which began in 1998. Samantha Barranco turned aside eight shots to preserve Monmouth’s win.
Monmouth’s victory helped them keep pace with St. Norbert for fourth place in the MWC. The Green Knights knocked off second place Grinnell 4-3 Sunday in Grinnell.
The Scots play at Beloit on Wednesday before wrapping up their regular season with a home match against Grinnell on Saturday.
