The best start in program history has earned a trio of Monmouth College women accolades from the Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA).
    Â
Natalie Curtis (Arlington Heights, Ill./Hersey),
Cassidy O'Connell (Chicago, Ill./Lane Tech) and
Becca Dabrowski (McHenry, Ill./West) were awarded CWPA honors following the Fighting Scots' two wins at last weekend's Macalester Tournament. The Scots set program records for most goals scored and fewest goals allowed at the start of a season.
Curtis was named the CWPA defensive Player of the Week for her work in goal. The sophomore goalkeeper averaged 14 saves per game, including a record 17 against Carthage – ranked No. 10 among NCAA Division III teams. Curtis also recorded a team-high 17 steals out of her goalkeeper position.
An art major, Curtis is the daughter of Peter and Annette Curtis.
O'Connell earned a CWPA honor roll nod for Player of the Week after leading the Scots with 32 goals in five games last weekend. The senior pumped in a school-record 10 in Monmouth's 18-11 win over Cal Tech. With no fewer than 10 games remaining, O'Connell is more than halfway to the team's single-season scoring record.
A biopsychology major, O'Connell is the daughter of Sharon O'Connell and Jeff Jaski.
Dabrowski made her collegiate debut a good one with inclusion on the CWPA's honor roll for Rookie of the Week. The freshman led the Scots with 14 assists and was second in the team in scoring with 12 shots that found the back of the net during the team's opening weekend.
A psychology major, Dabrowski is the daughter of William and Gretchen Dabrowski.
Monmouth will travel to Kenosha, Wis., next weekend for the eight-team Carthage Tournament.
