Nearly every Monmouth College runner improved their times at Saturday's Dan Huston Cross Country Invitational where the Scots' women placed second and the men fourth.
     Led by
Joanna Podosek's third-place time of 23:44 on the 6K course, Monmouth's women were a solid runner up, just 20 points behind winner Wartburg and 50 points ahead of the ISU Running Club.
Caitlyn Allen's improved effort of 24:30 placed her seventh overall.
Jessica Salinas (24:56) and
Kate Saulcy (25:02) formed their own two-person pack, coming in 10th and 11th.
Kelci Foss rounded out Monmouth's top five, clocking a 25:40 to finish in 20th position.
Amy Wollenburg and
Katelynn Propes completed the seven-runner scoring with a 26:14 and 28:07, respectively.
     Finishing fourth in the team standings, Monmouth's men were nearly 60 points in front of the fifth-place team.
Cooper Pauley turned in the Scots' fastest 8K time at the Waverly, Iowa, course, clocking a 26:49.2 to finish fifth, less than seven seconds out of a fourth-place finish. A 27:21.8 took 15th overall for
Tate Heiple while
Bryent Van De Wostine placed 28th in 28:09.6.

Tyler Bland (29:04.0) and
Jay Gray (29:11.9) – who turned in a season-best time – finished in Monmouth's top five. The Scots' scoring was completed with
Tanner Heiple's 29:30.7 and a 30:08.3 by
Dustin Watts.
     Monmouth will compete next at the Bradley Pink Classic on Oct. 14.
