Monmouth scripted the perfect ending to their lone home water polo tournament this season, taking the last match of the day 17-12 over Salem International.
The Scots avenged a season-opening loss to the Tigers with a seven-goal outburst in the second quarter. Monmouth scored the first three goals of the match from three different players to take an early lead before Salem responded to lead 5-4 after the first eight minutes.
The second quarter belonged to the Scots who got five goals in the period from
Raheem Brown and solo tallies from
Julius Bradsfield and
Jake Hall to lead 11-8 at the intermission. Monmouth never trailed in the second half, building their lead to six at 14-8 late in the third period and played even in the fourth period to avenge a 21-19 loss in the season opener.
Monmouth fell behind in the day's opener, a 19-10 loss to Mercyhurst. The Lakers blanked the Scots in the first period en route to a 9-4 halftime lead. A seven-goal third quarter put the game away for Mercyhurst.
