Warren Taylor is one of an elite group of athletes who earned two varsity letters as a freshman. After receiving an “M” in football and baseball, he then went on to earn seven additional varsity letters, three in football, three in baseball and one in basketball.
He was captain of the Monmouth football team in 1925 when the Scots recorded an undefeated season. His efforts earned him All-Midwest Conference honors that season, and he was selected captain of the first all-state team.
Taylor will best be remembered as one-half of the Taylor-to-Molesworth passing combination that completed 29 consecutive passes during the 1924 football season.
Taylor later coached the Scots to another undefeated season in 1931, winning both the Midwest and Little Nineteen Conference titles. He also served as a football official for 25 years.
