Dr. Ralph Graham played baseball and ran track while a student at Monmouth College, but it was through his service to the college’s athletic program as a physician that he won his fame. For many years, Dr. Graham attended MC athletic contests, serving as doctor, therapist and general health consultant.
For thousands of Monmouth sports fans through the years, the sight of Dr. Graham sitting on the bench with the team was a familiar one. His son, Ralph Graham, Jr., recalled going to the gymnasium and watching his father wrap ankles and knees.
Dr. Graham, who later became a member of the college Senate, also did all he could to help several generations of students through college, including traveling around the town of Monmouth selling baskets of peaches to help a young athlete.
