A true student-athlete, Eric Ealy came to Monmouth College from Marengo, Iowa, where he was valedictorian of his senior class and also a first-team all-conference basketball player. His success in the classroom and on the playing field continued at Monmouth, where he will be remembered most as the Fighting Scots’ first national track champion, winning the 1986 NCAA Division III high jump title.
A three-time All-American and a five-time Midwest Conference champion in the high jump, he set the MC high jump record of 6’10-3/4. He also set MWC records in the outdoor and indoor high jump.
In addition to athletics, his leadership extended to many areas of the college. He served as Student Association treasurer for three years, as president of Blue Key and as president of his fraternity. He graduated cum laude in business administration.
