 Bud McRoberts, who played basketball for Monmouth from 1958-61, was a big-time scorer for the Fighting Scots, finishing his career with 1,273 points which, at the time, was the second-best total in MC history. At one time he also held the school records for the most rebounds and free throws in one game.
 A repeat All-Midwest Conference hoopster, McRoberts averaged 20.3 points per game during his career. During the 1960-61 season, McRoberts scored 41 points in a single game, establishing a new school record. For the year, he averaged 21.2 points per game, tops in the conference.
 He also won four letters in baseball and two letters in track.
