During his Monmouth College track career, Blake Boma became accustomed to finishing first. In fact, he did it a total of 16 times at MWC meets, adding seven relay titles to the nine individual races he won.
But Boma saved his most significant first-place finish for the final individual race of his Fighting Scots career. At the 2005 national outdoor meet, Boma won the 400-meter hurdles in 51.78 to join an elite group of Monmouth national champions.
The title gave Boma two All-American honors, as he placed third in that event at the 2004 national meet. In all, he qualified to compete nationally four times.
At the MWC level, Boma earned four Most Outstanding Performer honors, and the Scots swept the indoor and outdoor team titles in each of his seasons.
At the time of his induction, Boma shared the Monmouth record in the 55-meter dash (6.47) and owned three of the six top 400-meter hurdle times.
